SEDAN, COUPE, WAGON, HATCHBACK, ETC WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

The various car types based on their designs.

‎Maybe you often get confused when trying to differentiate  sedan car and a coupe, wagon and hatchback, or finding it difficult to properly differentiate a crossover and a SUV, or perhaps you want to get a new car ‎but while reading the review you discovered that there is another choice to make when you see the options of a coupe or sedan, wagon or hatchback, crossover or SUV. Then you begin to wander in confusion, what are they talking about.  I only wanted the car.
If you're lucky to be reading this post right now, you are about to know the basics about these various car types and how they differ. ‎So, keep reading.

Here are the basic things you should know about them, how you can identify them and differentiate them accurately.
Why should you know this? After all I don't need it, because it's not related with my profession. Let me also ask you, do you know what type of car you drive.

SEDAN

A sedan is generally known to be a four door car, as many individuals knows that, but that's not the accurate description.
The best way to describe a sedan is a car that has front and back seats and can carry about 4 to 6 people's (2 at the front and 2,3 or 4 people at the back seats).the rear interior volume of a sedan is up to 33 cubic feet and above. A sedan has centre body pillars or "B" pillars between the front and rear doors.
Sometimes you see a two door sedan, it's called a sedan because it meets the specifications of a sedan, but it has only two doors.

COUPE

‎ Generally a coupe is a car that has only two doors. If that's it, what will you do when you find a two-door sedan, you’ll become confused.
The best way to describe a coupe, is a closed roof car that has only two front seats, or two fronts and rear seats. Technically, the rear interior has volume less than 33 cubic feet, that makes it difficult for big adults to seat comfortably in the rear interior. A coupe can only carry from two to four people.
At times you may hear of a 4-door coupe, that's just to confuse you, the manufacturer may just decide to make it a four door, but it's still a coupe because the rear interior volume is less than 33 cubic feet. And cannot seat more than two people at the back seats.

WAGON

A wagon has quite similar features of a sedan, because it's design is based on its sedan counterpart. The major feature of a wagon is the continuous roof line that extends to the trunk, creating additional cargo space. The wagon has more than two window boxes unlike the sedan, there's a window box for the trunk. Some wagons have up to three seat rows.

HATCHBACK

A hatchback is a car with either two or four doors, it has a roof line that suddenly deeps after the rear door, the trunk door is large enough for easy access when loading it its trunk is not as spacious as the wagon and it cannot offer a third row seats. It has a slopping backside.

CONVERTIBLE

A convertible is a type of car that can be said to have dual mode, it enables you to fold the roof so you can have a feel of the winds blowing and also have the roof closed when you want it,
they can be available in two or four doors,

CROSSOVER

Basically, this is a medium sized SUV. A crossover is based on a passenger car platform, it can better be understood as a tall hatchback. Crossovers are designed for improved ride, comfort and fuel economy. Some offer third row seats, light 4WD or AWD systems. They designed based on unibody chassis configuration.
They can also be called Cross Utility Vehicle (CUV) as they offer both utility of a wagon and an SUV.

SUV (sport utility vehicle)

SUVs are designed based on truck platform, usually a body on frame chassis, t‎hey offer 4WD or AWD system, they offer a third row seats.

 MINIVANS

The minivan is similar to the wagon, but it has a higher roofline for more headroom and cargo space. Most minivans are designed to carry seven passengers. Mini vans have the normal front doors, but the back doors are sliding doors, they look more like a tall wagon,

TRUCKS/PICKUPS

Trucks are larger, can be a 2 or 4 door body design with flat exposed trunk bed, the body is placed on a rolling frame. Offers a 4WD or AWD systems. They can range in size from the mid sized TOYOTA Hillux to the larger TOYOTA TUNDRA or FORD F-150.
