REVIEW OF THE MADE IN NIGERIA 2018 KIA SPORTAGE

 One of the Nigeria's widely used SUV/crossover has got a new edition parked with newer innovative features and upgrades, it's not just the newer edition that is there to celebrate, it's now assembled in Nigeria.

KIA Motors Nigeria unveiled its new 2018 edition of it KIA sportage assembled at KIA auto plant in Lagos in support of the federal governments auto policy. This which has helped in lowering the price of cars and also conserve the Nations foriegn exchange.

The Group Managing Director, Kia Motors Nigeria, Mr. Jacky Hathiramani, described the new vehicle as a stunning masterpiece, having been equipped with innovative packaging, premium materials, powerful engine and state-of-the art technology.

Mr Hathiramani said, “We are confident that the all-new Kia Sportage will take the entire auto industry by storm, not because of its brave and handsome design but also its reengineered technology for optimum performance. The Sportage boasts of a high, comfortable ride, acres of space for stuff, kids and pets, and off-road ability too. The new model is a bit longer than the old one – 1.6 inches, with a wheelbase 1.2 inches longer – so there is more room in the back while the floor is a bit lower making for easier entry.”

The vice president of KIA Motors Nigeria, Mr Olu Tiloko said at the presentation to the motoring jounalists in Lagos that the new SUV is targeted at trendy business executives and young couples.

Interior/Exterior

The firm said the new vehicle’s interior had been significantly upgraded with high quality materials and modern design in order to improve comfort and convenience of the passengers and drivers.

The automaker, it said, had finely crafted the new Sportage and expressed confidence that it would take the lead in its segment in Nigeria.

The overall length of the car has increased while the width remains the same. The car’s wheelbase has been stretched for a more spacious interior, according to the firm.

It also said, “The all-new Sportage boasts distinctive and refined enhancements that make it an appealing choice in the compact SUV segment. Its innovative design contributes to a distinctively sporty aesthetic and cutting edge functionality. With a strong high-strength steel foundation paired with a sharply detailed body and an upscale interior made of soft and luxurious materials, the new Sportage is simultaneously bold and aggressive as well as refined and sophisticated.

The vehicle is adorned with the Kia’s hallmark “tiger-nose” grille, HID headlights, LED fog lamps, LED taillights and 17-inch wheels.

Engine

“Under the hood, the Sportage has a 2.0 litre engine on the LX and EX with 185hp and 237Nm of torque. The new generation (Sportage) also has more passenger room and cargo volume, with a distinctive exterior design” said, Jimoh Olawale, Marketing Manager, Kia Motors Nigeria.

Performance

The Sportage is said to possess enhanced handling and steering performance and updated driver assistance features that boost safety and the overall driving experience.

The marketing manager, Mr. Jimoh Olawale said, “It stands strongly as one of the most popular models in the segment and has been a major driver behind the growth and success of Kia Motors globally. Building upon its predecessors, the all-new fourth-generation Sportage once again takes the urban SUV concept to the next level.

“The new Sportage target markets are the go-getters who need a vehicle to match their confident and active lifestyle. The new model features styling changes which highlight its striking bold appearance and gives an ultimate visual appeal.”

Mr. Jimoh Olawale, also said the new Kia Sportage was tropicalised for the Nigerian roads.

He said, “The Kia Sportage is all about offering you more that you’d expect. More breathtakingly distinct design, cutting edge technologies, advanced features to enhance your comfort and safety. The Sportage is the perfect combination of sportiness and style with distinctive and innovative design and truly striking features that offer pure refinement and commanding side profile.”

He listed other striking features of the vehicle as Auto Cruise Control, Parking Assist System, Vehicle Stability Management; and cutting-edge technology for maximum driving stability expected to automatically engage all-wheel drive system. This would sense road conditions, wheel speed and acceleration, and then apply the right amount of torque to the front and rear wheels for optimum road grip.
