HOW YOU CAN INCREASE YOUR FUEL ECONOMY AND SAVE MORE ON FUEL BUDGETS.

With the resent increase in the price of petrol price per litre, I've noticed life on the road has been challenging for some people who finds out that their fuelling budget is too costly, in fact I have seen some car owners abandon their cars due to the increased fuel prices across the country. A lot more have been trying some gimmicks fuel economy tablets with no testimony of any improved fuel economy. I did some research and discovered some tips that can really help improve your car fuel economy. These tips are listed under two headings, driving habits and the vehicle technical condition. Some driving habits and maintenance of your car will help you achieve an improved fuel economy.

Before proceeding to listing and analysing these tips to help improve your fuel economy, I'll like to advice you if you are purchasing a new car ensure that you're buying a fuel economic car. That is if you really want to save on fuel costs. But nevertheless, if you have already gotten a car these tips are still going to help you save more on fuel budgets.

DRIVING HABITS.

1.Drive safe and smoothly .
being a safe driver doesn't just prevent road accidents, but also save more fuel. Also abrupt acceleration and braking consumes more fuel up to about 50 %. So you can save more fuel by being a safe driver.

2. Study the traffic ahead .
Always be conscious of the traffic condition ahead of you by looking out for anything that might need you to stop maybe traffic lights or a pedestrian crossing the road or another driver trafficking in your direction. By this you will be able to know when to start marching the brake pedal.

3. Avoid short trips, try multitasking.
Always try to organise your trips daily, Schedule your daily trips to times when the traffic is lighter, also try combining 3 or more short trips together to minimise your fuel consumption, several shot trips after your Engine Gets colder will take more fuel than the normal fuel consumption . A cold engine takes twice more fuel to warm up.

4. Avoid engine warm up and revving.
leaving your engine running for a long time in the morning for warm up is fuel consuming, two or three minutes warm up is enough. Also revving the engine wastes your fuel and causes unnecessary engine wears.

5.Use the gear properly and minimise the air conditioning.

It is important that you use the gear properly and accurately, that's using the right gear at the right time and changing it at the accurate and safe time. Avoid driving at high speeds on a lower gear. Also minimise the use of the air conditioning system.. Don't use it on a cold day or early in the morning when the weather is still cold.

VEHICLE TECHNICAL CONDITION.

1. Keep your car properly maintained and tuned up regularly.
The first and most important thing under your vehicle technical condition is to ensure that you do your routine maintenance at due times. And tune it up regularly to ensure that every part of the system is working fine. With that in place you wouldn't be loosing too much fuel due to worn-out or poor performance of the parts. A bad spark plugs, dirty or damaged air and fuel filters will reduce your fuel economy.

2. Keep your vehicle light.
Another thing that is important in fuel economy is your vehicle's weight, and the only way you can control this is to ensure that you don't carry unnecessary loads around. Only carry what you need for a trip.

3. Tyre conditions.
Check your tyre conditions at least twice in a week and ensure it is properly inflated, an under-inflated tyre reduces the fuel economy by 3%.

4. Avoid protruding parts.
Always avoid attaching unnecessary parts to the body of your car, it affects the aerodynamics of the car and causes drag. The engine loses power to overcome the aerodynamic drag and more fuel is being consumed.

So it’s time you start saving money from you fuel budgets. These tips are basis and can increase your fuel economy up to 50% more.
