DRIVING TIPS FOR BETTER FUEL ECONOMY.

Few driving tips to improve your fuel economy.

Still in the era of high fuel prices in the country, and the rumour of increasing the price of petrol by the federal government. Considering your fuel consumption and the amount you spend on fuel budgets, you may notice that the spending is excessive, and you're really bordered about that.    Part of the things that contributes to high fuel consumption is your driving habits.
Here a some driving tips to help minimise your fuel consumption, and save money on your fuel budgets.

1. Be able to calculate your fuel efficiency.

Firstly you  should be able to calculate your  efficiency so you can know the actual amount you consume in mile per gallon/litre. This will be your first step towards becoming a fuel efficient driver.

2. Use the right car for the trip.

If you really want to save on fuel budgets. You should always use the car with the lower fuel consumption. Avoid using the powerful SUVs or trucks when you don't need them. Choose the fuel efficient car for your trips.

3. Drive smoothly and stick to speed limits.

Rough driving doesn't just cause accidents it also save fuel consumption. Being a safe driver will save life and fuel. Don't press your throttle and brake pedal aggressively, always accelerate and brake gently.

4. Avoid short trips and minimise the vehicle use.

When the car engine is cold it takes more fuel to warm up to the normal working temperature. Going on short trips after the engine is cold will increase your fuel consumption. The best thing to do is to combine your short trips together and do it once instead of going on short trips after your Engine cools down.
Minimising the vehicle use means that you should go on nearby trips by juggling or cycling.

5. Use the right gear at the right time.

Driving at high speed on a lower gear will waste more fuel and engine power.   Avoid driving at high speeds on a lower gear. Always change to a higher gear when it's necessary and convenient.

6. Minimise the air conditioning.

The AC uses  more engine power and fuel consumption is increased by that. You can reduce your fuel consumption by minimising the use of the air conditioning system. You can avoid it on a cold day or early in the morning when the weather is still cold.

7. Follow your maintenance checklist.

Checking your tires regularly to know the condition is important, an under-inflated tire will cause more fuel consumption. Check your owner’s manual to know the right tire pressure.

8. Reduce aerodynamic drag.

Aerodynamic drag is caused by components protruding around your vehicle. It is important that you avoid attaching unnecessary parts to the body of your vehicle like roof racks ski box.
Also ensure that the sun roofs and windows are closed when driving at high speed.

9. Don't carry unnecessary loads around.

Carrying loads will add to your vehicle's weight and more fuel will be consumed to overcome the excess weight.

10. Keep your vehicle in good condition.

Keep your vehicle well tuned and regularly maintained. Get your car serviced at the intervals specified in the manufacturer's handbook.
